A few spells of rain can also occur in the Western and North-Western provinces and the Galle and Matara districts.
Rain or thundershowers can occur at a few places in the Uva province and the Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m., while a mainly dry weather condition prevails in the remaining areas of the island.
Fairly strong winds of about 30-40 kmph can blow intermittently over the western slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-Central, North-Western and Southern provinces and the Trincomalee district.
The Department of Meteorology urges the public to take necessary steps to minimise dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
