India defeated Sri Lanka by 165 runs in the first test match held at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, taking a 1-0 lead in the two-match test series.

India scored 462 runs in their first innings, while Sri Lanka could only manage 284 runs in reply.

India posted 193 runs in their second innings, setting Sri Lanka a target of 372 runs to win.

Sri Lanka were bowled out for 206 runs in their second innings, handing victory to India.

Sonal Dinusha performed notably with the bat for Sri Lanka by scoring 84 runs, and Dhananjaya de Silva contributed 59 runs.

Manav Sutar played the major role in dismantling the Sri Lankan innings by taking 6 wickets for 55 runs, while Prasidh Krishna claimed 2 wickets.

With this win, India lead the two-match series 1-0, making the second test the decisive match of the series.
