The Railways Department says that steps have been taken to ensure the safety at all unprotected railway crossings around the island.
The Department is taking steps to ensure some sort of safety measure is present at all the 1,200 rail crossing in the island.
Railways Transport Superintendant L A R Ratnayake stated that once these measures are complete, drivers will be solely responsible for any accidents.
