President presides "Aluth Sahal Mangallaya" in Pollonnaruwa Gal Viharaya

President Maithripala Sirisena presided over the “Aluth Sahal Mangallaya” offering the maiden rice gathered fresh from the field to the historical Polonnaruwa Gal Viharaya in the morning.

According to the President’s Media Division, President Sirisena who entered into this religious premises has cleaned the sacred feet of the reclining Buddha statue and has offered the first half of the fresh rice gathered from his field in Laksha Uyana village.

Later, the President has held cordial discussions with the farmers who had participated in this event.

Moreover, accepting a request made by a small girl with hearing impairment, President Sirisena has agreed to provide necessary facilities for her future education.
