The night mail train from Colombo to Badulla has been cancelled as a result of the Polgahawela train accident.
Meanwhile, five persons who were injured have been transferred to Kurunegala Teaching Hospital with a critical condition.
About 20 -25 passengers were admitted to Polgahawela Hospital following the train accident at Panaliya near Polgahawela.
However, Police Spokesperson said 32 passengers were admitted to hospitals.
The Railway Main Control Room said the Kandy bound train had stopped at Panaliya area in Polgahawela due to a technical fault.
Then the Rambukkana bound train from Colombo Fort which left at 4.50 pm had hit the stalled train from behind.
Meanwhile, a committee headed by General Manager of SLR has been appointed to look into the accident.
