ID card service charges increase from today

The fees and services charged for the issuance of national identity cards have been increased from today (01).

Accordingly, the fee charged for the first registration and issuance of national identity cards has been increased to Rs. 200 and Rs.500 is charged for issuing a revised copy of an identity card.

The Commissioner General of Registration of Persons Viyani Gunathilaka stated the fee charged for issuing a duplicate of a lost national identity card has been increased to Rs.1,000.

Also, an amount of Rs.2,000 has been charged in addition to the application fee for the issuance of national identity cards through the one-day service.

Meanwhile, Commissioner General of the Department of Motor Traffic,Nishantha Weerasinghe announced instead of the 600,000 temporary driving licenses issued temporarily, permanent driving licenses will be issued in the next two weeks due to the lack of cards.
