According to a request made by the Foreign Ministry permission granted to the Chinese research vessel " Shi Yan 6" to arrive in Sri Lanka: Defence Ministry Spokesman.

The proximity of Sri Lanka to India’s southern coast makes it a crucial factor in India’s maritime security calculations.
