Leave of all postal workers cancelled for three days - Postmaster General

The Postmaster General has announced the cancellation of leave for all postal workers on November 8, 9, and 10. This decision comes in response to the strike called by the United Postal Union, which is set to begin at midnight on November 7 and continue for 48 hours.

The strike is in protest of the decision to sell the buildings housing the Nuwara Eliya Post Office. As a result, the Colombo Central Post Exchange employees have already commenced their trade union action.

In light of the strike and the disruptions it may cause, the Postmaster General has taken the precautionary measure of canceling leave for postal workers to ensure the continuity of postal services during the strike period.

The strike is expected to impact postal operations, and this move is aimed at minimizing the potential disruption and inconvenience to the public.
