The Moragolla Hydropower Project, situated on the Mahaweli River in the Central Highlands, is nearing its final stage of construction.
The project includes a 37-meter-high dam and a three-kilometre underground tunnel.
This is set to add 30.2 megawatts of clean energy to Sri Lanka's national grid.
According to the Ministry of Power and Energy, the facility is expected to be connected to the grid by December this year, adding to the country's renewable energy capacity.
