Sri Lanka’s Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) announced that 41 high-ranking officials failed to submit their required asset and liability declarations for the previous year.
The list of non-compliant officials includes a cabinet minister, four former governors, state ministers, ambassadors, senior diplomatic staff, and judges.
Among the notable individuals on the list are former Cabinet Minister Douglas Devananda and six former state ministers: Tharaka Balasuriya, Shantha Bandara, Kader Masthan, Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, Surendra Raghavan, and the late Lohan Ratwatta.
According to the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023, public officials are legally required to declare all assets and liabilities, both in Sri Lanka and overseas.
The CIABOC also identified four former governors, Roshan Goonetileke, Senthil Thondaman, Navin Dissanayake, and William Gamage, at least 28 senior diplomatic staff, and two former judges on the list of those who did not comply.
