The incident began with a late-night argument between two Sri Lankan men and six German tourists, who were attending a party at a local hotel.
After the dispute, the German nationals left on two motorcycles and a three-wheeler. The two Sri Lankan men then pursued them in a car, intercepting their vehicles and assaulting them.
The victims reported the attack to the Unawatuna Tourist Police, who quickly located and arrested the suspects, ages 25 and 26, from the Rumassala area.
The vehicle used in the assault has also been seized.
The suspects have been handed over to the Habaraduwa Police and are scheduled to appear in court. Meanwhile, the assaulted tourists are receiving medical care.
