
A suspect was arrested with a counterfeit Rs. 1,000 banknote in the Dambulla town area during a raid today (22), according to Habarana Police.
Police stated that the arrested individual is a 32-year-old resident of the Dambulla area.
The arrest was made based on a tip-off received when the suspect attempted to exchange the fake note at a shop in the Dambulla area.
Police said the suspect will be produced before the Kekirawa Magistrate's Court tomorrow (23).
A team of police officers, acting on instructions from Habarana Police Station OIC Palitha Ilangasekara, is conducting further investigations into the incident.
