The Committee on Public Finance (COPF) has granted its approval for the Draft Appropriation Bill pertaining to the year 2026.
This approval was given during the Committee's meeting held yesterday (23) in Parliament, chaired by Member of Parliament Dr. Harsha de Silva.
During the meeting, officials from the Ministry of Finance informed the Committee about how funds have been allocated for various sectors for the year 2026 and outlined the government's future targets.
Accordingly, the Second Reading (Budget Speech) of the 2026 Appropriation Bill is scheduled to be presented to Parliament by the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, on November 07.
