Probation officer arrested for assaulting girls under state care

Dehiattakandiya Police state they arrested a Probation officer for aggravated sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl under the care of a children's development center and serious abuse of another girl.

Police said the suspect was arrested on October 31 based on a complaint received. The suspect committed the crimes while serving as the Probation Officer at the same children's home.

Police further stated that after being produced before the Dehiattakandiya Magistrate's Court, the suspect was remanded until November 6.
