The Department of Meteorology issued a warning for extremely heavy rainfall over several provinces and districts.
The warning indicates that rainfall of around 150 mm is highly likely in the Eastern, Central, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Polonnaruwa district.
Furthermore, the Department states that the rest of the island can expect heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm.
Residents in all areas are advised to prepare for potential flooding and associated hazards.
