Driving licence services fully restored

The Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) has announced that the driving licence computer system, which was severely disrupted due to the adverse weather conditions, has now been completely restored.

Accordingly, all services, including the printing of driving licences, will resume as normal starting tomorrow (3) at the main office in Werahera and all district offices island-wide.

The Commissioner General of Motor Traffic confirmed that special provisions previously announced for the convenience of individuals who could not obtain services during the system failure will remain in effect:

1. Rescheduled Written Exams

Examinations that were cancelled due to the system error and weather have been rescheduled as follows:

·         Exams scheduled for November 27, 2025, will now be held on December 8, 2025.

·         Exams scheduled for November 28, 2025, will now be held on December 9, 2025.

Note: These rescheduled exams will take place at the same times indicated on your original booking document.

2. Missed Appointments

Clients who had booked appointments on the affected dates (November 27, November 28, December 1, and December 2, 2025) will be granted the opportunity to obtain their relevant services on any working day within the next two weeks.
