Kaduwela Police stated that four individuals, including two police constables, were arrested Wednesday night (3) for assaulting a businessman and robbing him of money and a gold ring.
The businessman had been staying at a lodge in Kaduwela because since were no buses available to return home.
The two arrested constables are assigned to the Malabe Police Station.
The Police also stated that the other suspects include the manager and an employee of the lodge.
The businessman, a resident of Kamburupitiya, went to Biyagama to see his child.
He came to Kaduwela town to return home, however, finding no bus, he rented a room at a lodge for the night, the Police mentioned.
At that time, the four suspects were drinking alcohol with the lodge owner.
The complaint states that the two constables knocked on the businessman's door, opened it by force, claimed that they needed to search him, and then assaulted and robbed him.
The two arrested police constables are residents of Nagoda and Imaduwa in Galle, while the other two suspects are residents of Piliyandala and Ginigathhena.
