Massive cargo plane delivers ninth UAE aid consignment

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) delivered its ninth consignment of aid for Sri Lanka's disaster relief efforts today (7) afternoon. A special cargo aircraft carrying the supplies arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake.

The aircraft, belonging to the UAE Air Force, was a massive Ilyushin IL-76 transport plane.

It landed at Katunayake Airport at 4:47 p.m. from Abu Dhabi. The essential aid shipment includes tents and other facilities aimed at providing temporary housing for the affected population.

A team of officials from the Sri Lanka Army, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present at the airport to receive the substantial aid consignment.
