Lankan student achieves world’s highest score in Cambridge AS Mathematics

Sri Lankan student Sanuth Rashmitha, from Wesley College, Colombo, has achieved the extraordinary distinction of being “Top in the World” for Cambridge International AS Level Mathematics, earning the highest mark globally among candidates.




 He was also ranked first in Sri Lanka for the “Best Across Three” category of the Cambridge AS Level June 2025 exam series, receiving recognition at the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards 2025.




Achieving the highest mark in AS Mathematics is particularly challenging due to the subject’s advanced analytical and problem-solving demands, making this a rare and remarkable accomplishment.




Sanuth has consistently demonstrated exceptional academic excellence. In addition to the standard three A Level subjects, he is currently studying Further Mathematics as a fourth A Level and has completed Harvard University’s CS50x course, reflecting his keen interest in advanced mathematics and computer science.




Beyond academics, Sanuth has shown leadership through inter-school quiz competitions and technology projects. He is also an intermediate pianist with a passion for classical music and film scoring.




Sanuth aspires to pursue higher education in computer science at a leading global university, with a long-term goal of contributing to cutting-edge technological innovation.




His extraordinary achievement adds to Sri Lanka’s growing presence on the international academic stage and serves as an inspiration to students across the country.
