A 35-year-old Police Sergeant died following a shooting incident at the Police Special Task Force (STF) training camp in Katukurunda, Kalutara, early this morning (02).
The victim, identified as Ravindra Samaratunga, was discovered lying in a corridor of the barracks within the training facility.
Kalutara South Police reported finding a firearm positioned near the body.
Preliminary observations suggest the death resulted from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, though official conclusions await further evidence.
Kalutara South Police are currently conducting extensive investigations into the circumstances surrounding the event.
