Twenty female conductors received their appointment letters yesterday at the Makumbura Multimodal Transport Centre to join the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB).
These new recruits are designated for duty on expressways, specifically operating on the Maharagama-Kadawatha bus route.
Deputy Minister of Media Kaushalya Ariyarathne presided over the ceremony, while Member of Parliament Samanmalee Gunasinghe also attended the event.
During her address, Samanmalee Gunasinghe noted that certain roles provide a service that cannot be measured simply by a salary, comparing the dedication required for these new positions to such invaluable work.
Additionally, the event featured the introduction of a new official uniform specifically designed for these female conductors.
