The Colombo Additional Magistrate has ordered the remand of six individuals, including the son of a prominent fashion model, following an alleged assault on a three-wheel driver in Rajagiriya.
Colombo Additional Magistrate Nuwan Kaushalya ruled today that the suspects remain in custody until February 16.
The group is accused of attacking a driver with a shovel following a road traffic accident in the Kalapaluwawa area several months ago.
Welikada Police informed the court that the confrontation began when a friend of the model’s son, travelling by motorcycle, collided with a three-wheeler.
The suspects allegedly arrived at the scene shortly after and assaulted the driver, who subsequently required treatment at the Colombo National Hospital.
While the defence counsel argued for bail—noting the incident occurred three months ago and claiming that social media exposure would compromise an identification parade—the Magistrate upheld the police request for further detention to facilitate the formal identification process.
