President Anura Kumara Dissanayake held an informal meeting with estate workers this morning along the Radella shortcut road in Nanu Oya to discuss their welfare.
The President was warmly received by the plantation community while travelling through the area.
During the encounter, workers expressed their direct gratitude to the President for the recent implementation of wage increases within the sector.
Local workers speaking to the press highlighted the significance of the visit, noting that it was a rare instance of a Head of State visiting the fields to personally engage with their grievances.
They commended the President not only for the salary adjustments but also for taking the time to observe their working conditions firsthand.
