A bus ablaze on Southern Expressway

A passenger transport bus caught fire today (27) near the Welipenna area on the Southern Expressway.

The bus, travelling toward Katharagama, ignited near the Welipenna interchange.

While a group of passengers occupied the vehicle when the fire started, they were safely evacuated before the flames spread.
