A full report on the bank accounts of Ishara Sewwandi, who is being detained and questioned for aiding the murder of Ganemulla Sanjeewa, must be submitted to the court. Colombo Chief Magistrate Thasanga S. Bodaragama issued this order today (6).
The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) informed the court that several bank accounts belonging to the suspect were uncovered and requested permission to investigate them.
This order came when the case was called today, with suspects appearing via Zoom.
One female suspect is currently held by the CCD, while two other suspects remain in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for questioning.
The Magistrate noted that during the previous court date, no progress was visible regarding the investigation into the 15th suspect.
The CCD stated that investigations into the suspect are ongoing, and they intend to request permission to produce her in court. Investigating officers added that the suspect is currently in her second 90-day detention period.
Following these submissions, the Magistrate ordered the CCD to conduct a thorough investigation into the suspect and her bank accounts and present a complete report to the court.
