Afternoon thundershowers in several provinces

Showers or thundershowers may occur in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and North-Western provinces, as well as the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Monaragala districts after 1:00 p.m. today (08), according to a statement from the Department of Meteorology.

Light morning showers might affect the coastal areas of the Western province and the Galle and Matale districts. Additionally, misty conditions are anticipated during the early hours in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces, along with the Ampara and Polonnaruwa districts.

The public is requested to take necessary precautions to minimise risks from lightning and temporary strong winds during thundershowers. As the sun moves northward, it remains directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka from April 05 to 15. At 12:12 p.m. today (08), the sun will be directly overhead in Negombo, Warakapola, Aranayaka, Gampola, Bibile, Inginiyagala, and Akkaraipattu.
