A pair of unclaimed rubber slippers containing hidden narcotics was discovered inside the dental clinic of the Karapitiya National Hospital yesterday (10).
Karapitiya Hospital Police stated that the hospital’s Deputy Director alerted them to the presence of the ownerless footwear within the clinic premises.
Upon inspection, the OIC of the hospital police found 1,700 mg of ICE, 1,620 mg of heroin, 690 mg of hashish, and 2,110 mg of tobacco concealed inside the expertly carved soles of the slippers.
Authorities suspect that an individual brought the slippers to the clinic for a prisoner from the Boossa Prison who was present for treatment yesterday.
The Galle Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
