Namal calls to learn from past crises and move forward

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organiser and Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa stated that the country faced severe setbacks due to significant historical turning points, including the 1983 Black July, the 1988-89 period of terror, and the 2022 Aragalaya.

Speaking to the media after performing New Year rituals at Carlton House, he emphasised that everyone must act to correct past mistakes and move forward.

While extending New Year greetings, he noted that cultural traditions serve as the foundation for the next generation.

He acknowledged that while past errors must be recognised and accepted, the country’s talented and modern youth should be practically engaged in national development.

Rajapaksa further commented that although certain isolated historical events caused the nation to collapse, the entire youth generation should not be judged by those incidents.

He stressed the importance of rebuilding trust in the youth and uniting their skills to secure the country’s future.
