Woman stabbed to death following dispute

A 32-year-old woman died yesterday (14) evening after being attacked with a sharp weapon in the Netolagama area, Wellawaya Police say.

Police officers acted immediately upon receiving a complaint regarding the attack and admitted the injured woman to the Wellawaya Hospital.

However, she had already passed away by the time she reached the hospital.

The deceased was a resident of Netolagama, Wellawaya. Preliminary investigations reveal that the death occurred after a personal dispute between the victim and her paramour escalated.

The suspect involved in the incident has fled the area, and Wellawaya Police are conducting further investigations to apprehend him.
