SriLankan suspends Bangkok Country Manager after airport quarrel

SriLankan Airlines has issued a statement clarifying media reports surrounding an alleged clash involving an airline official and a pilot at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport.


According to the airline, the incident occurred on April 2, 2026, while SriLankan Airlines crew members were preparing to check in at the airport in Thailand. During that time, the airline’s Country Manager in Bangkok reportedly entered the passenger check-in area and became involved in physical altercations with the operating flight crew and the Station Manager.


The matter was immediately reported to Airport Police at Suvarnabhumi International Airport by company officials, and investigations are currently underway.


SriLankan Airlines stated that the actions of the Country Manager were unlawful, unwarranted, and in violation of company rules and regulations.


The airline further confirmed that immediate disciplinary action had been taken, including suspending the official from service and instructing him to return to Sri Lanka without delay.
