The 6th Asian Beach Games officially began with a grand ceremony in Sanya, China.
Approximately 1,790 athletes from 45 countries are participating in the event, competing across 62 events in 14 different sports.
Sri Lanka is represented by a contingent of 77 athletes and 32 officials.
The opening ceremony highlighted traditional Chinese culture as the games were declared open.
Harin Wickramathilaka and Lakshika Sugandhi held the honor of carrying the Sri Lankan national flag during the proceedings.
The competition is scheduled to continue until April 30.
