A gambling den where women participated in monetary coin-tossing games was raided by the Padukka police.
Acting Police Chief stated that authorities made multiple prior attempts to raid the location but failed because lookouts stationed along the roadside tipped off the gamblers.
Police arrested eight women and seven men during the successful operation.
The gambling operation operated for some time inside a shrub jungle area in Udumulla, Padukka.
People traveled from areas including Athurugiriya, Homagama, Ingiriya, Gonapala, and Kapugala to gamble at this location, according to police.
Bets reached up to Rs. 100,000 at this den, and suspects possessed a large amount of cash at the time of the raid.
