We did not wage war against Tamil people, says Namal Rajapaksa

The war was conducted not against the Tamil people but with LTTE terrorists, Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa said.

The MP stated this while addressing the Parliament. Expressing a view there, the MP stated a view such as this:

"Specially, seventeen years pass by now after ending the war that existed for thirty years. May 18 was the day it was ended, and it was on May 19 that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa officially notified it in Parliament. A large number of people in this country made sacrifices for that war victory. The war heroes, police, civil security department, and also the citizens of this country, representing Tamil, Sinhala, Hindu, and every race in this country, made a huge sacrifice to end that war. Furthermore, even though some cannot be named as war heroes today, the majority of people are free today because of the sacrifices they made. We did not wage war against the Tamil people. We fought with the LTTE terrorists. Not with the Tamil people.

Furthermore, Honourable Deputy Speaker, a cyanide capsule was given to the neck of the school-going child in those days. The Northern Province transformed into a state where they can come between one, two, and three in Sri Lanka from the Advanced Level today by removing that cyanide capsule and giving the pen to the hand because terrorism was ended. Infrastructure development, I am not going to talk much about this. But if these people cannot give that honour to the war heroes and leaders who were there back then, there is no use talking to them about it because their history is also a history that cut veins."
