Man arrested transporting 'Ice' worth over Rs. 300K

Following a lengthy investigation into a three-wheeler theft reported on May 15 in Maligawatta, The Police have arrested a key suspect involved in both three-wheeler thefts and drug trafficking in the Wellampitiya area.

The suspect had stolen the three-wheeler parked in front of the venue, and his actions during the theft were clearly captured on a nearby CCTV camera. Police launched investigations based on the footage.

At the time of arrest, more than 10 grams of 'Ice' (methamphetamine) were also found in the suspect’s possession and taken into police custody.

Initial police interrogations have revealed that the suspect had stolen more than six other three-wheelers from Colombo and the surrounding areas over a period of time.

The suspect is a resident of the Wellawatte area in Colombo. He will be produced before the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court, and a detention order will be sought. Police continue investigations to recover other stolen three-wheelers linked to the suspect.
