The current government is making decisions to benefit and protect only a few businessmen close to them, without being sensitive to the people. Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna National Organiser, Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa stated this.
Attending a divisional meeting held in the Kuliyapitiya area yesterday (28), the MP further mentioned that the general public of the country must bear the entire pressure of these decisions taken on behalf of businessmen.
Expressing his views further, Namal Rajapaksa stated, "This is not an election period. I saw the JVP secretary saying that an election will not be held this year. But the cabinet media spokesperson of that same party says there is no such thing. They must resolve among themselves who tells the truth out of the two, because that is an issue within their party. However, when we go from village to village today, people gather around us in large numbers as they understand the government's lies and inability."
The MP accused that the government, which came to power by telling the highest number of lies in Sri Lankan history, continues to deceive the public by constantly lying through the President, the Prime Minister, and ministers even after coming to power.
Pointing out that the economy of the country is collapsing day by day, the MP stated that the government is systematically destroying the local farmer by imposing an unlimited tax burden. He mentioned that a fertilizer bag provided for 350 rupees during the administration of Mahinda Rajapaksa sells between 18,000 and 20,000 rupees today, while the price of a kilogramme of paddy remains at a minimum level of 100 to 110 rupees relative to it.
He further pointed out that factories across the country are closing down rapidly, and the government sides with employers and businessmen instead of standing up for the rights of employees.
The MP revealed that the government had to purchase diesel at the highest bid in the world market to cover the loss caused by importing sub-standard coal, and the government washes its hands of the matter by imposing that loss onto the public through tax burdens.

From Colombo to Canary Wharf: ISSO Prawn Crazy breaks global hospitality barriers Breaking the traditional mould of global hospitality expansion, homegrown culinary brand ISSO Prawn Crazy has officially established a direct corporate presence in the United Kingdom with the opening of its flagship international outlet at 25 Cabot Square, in the heart of London’s financial district, Canary Wharf. Operating under its global digital identity, ISSO Prawn Crazy, the launch marks a significant milestone for Sri Lanka’s food and beverage sector. While London’s culinary landscape has recently embraced Sri Lankan flavours, such concepts have largely been diaspora led or UK born enterprises. ISSO Prawn Crazy positions itself differently, entering the market as a Sri Lankan born corporate restaurant brand expanding directly from Colombo into the global stage. What began as a 16 seat quick service restaurant in central Colombo has evolved into a scalable, technology driven hospitality concept. The Canary Wharf outlet features a 90 seat indoor capacity, purpose built to serve the high volume, time sensitive demands of one of Europe’s leading financial districts. At the core of the brand’s approach is its departure from traditional, labour intensive restaurant models. ISSO Prawn Crazy introduces operational innovation through advanced kitchen systems and automation technologies, positioning itself as a tech enabled hospitality concept with global scalability. “We chose Canary Wharf for our Western debut because it represents the ideal high intensity environment to demonstrate the scalability of our model,” said Apinash Sivagumaaran, Founder and CEO of ISSO Group. “We are not just opening restaurants. We are building a structured, scalable framework for cross border expansion. For decades, Sri Lanka has remained within commodity driven export cycles, while value addition has been captured elsewhere. ISSO Prawn Crazy aims to shift that narrative.” At the heart of the menu is what Sivagumaaran describes as the “Wagyu of the Sea”, export grade wild caught Sri Lankan prawns. Sourced from the island’s coastal waters, these prawns are known for their firm texture and natural sweetness, attributed to Sri Lanka’s tropical marine ecosystem. Supporting this offering, ISSO Prawn Crazy has established a vertically integrated cold chain in partnership with Janaka Mayakaduwage of Alpex Marine. The supply chain works directly with more than 150 small scale artisanal fishermen across Jaffna and Mannar. The catch is individually quick frozen at minus 36 degrees Celsius within eight hours of harvest, ensuring freshness while bypassing traditional wholesale intermediaries and strengthening value retention at community level. To ensure consistent execution during its launch phase, ISSO Prawn Crazy has introduced a curated preview menu. Led by Head Chef Karan Kashyap, trained at the Institute of Hotel Management Pusa and experienced at leading London establishments including Veeraswamy, Roti Chai and Chai Ki, the opening menu blends street inspired fusion with regional culinary techniques.
