A new programme titled 'Mithuru Purawara' (Friendly Cities) has been proposed for implementation, aiming to enhance public convenience and improve the wellbeing of local communities.
The initiative seeks to develop selected small towns by identifying and completing one key development project in each of 25 towns across the country, with the objective of finishing all projects within 2026.
Accordingly, the Cabinet has approved a proposal presented by the Minister of Transport, Highways, and Urban Development to allocate Rs. 581 million for the first phase of the programme.
This funding will be used for projects identified in 23 towns, under the broader Clean Sri Lanka initiative.
