The director of the elderly care home in Horana, where a fire claimed the lives of 12 individuals, has been remanded until June 11.
The order was issued by the Horana Magistrate’s Court.
8 people who sustained injuries in the fire, which broke out yesterday evening, continue to receive treatment at the Horana Base Hospital and the Galpatha Regional Hospital.
At the time of the incident, 72 elderly residents were staying at the facility, including 37 women and 35 men.
Authorities managed to rescue 51 residents trapped in the fire.
They are currently being accommodated at the Batagoda Day Care Centre.
