The Department of Meteorology forecasts showers or thundershowers at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.
A few showers may occur in the Anuradhapura and Hambantota districts.
Strong winds of about 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills, Northern and North-central provinces and in Hambantota and Trincomalee districts. Fairly strong winds of about 30-40 kmph can be expected at times over other areas of the island.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
