A container truck theft has been reported from the Kelanimulla area.
A complaint was lodged with the Mulleriyawa Police on June 8, stating that a container along with a lorry had gone missing.
The theft is believed to have taken place from a vehicle yard in Ranala, belonging to a person identified as Amal Attanayake of Jalthara.
The stolen lorry was later driven from the area towards Ranala and Embulgama, where it was eventually found at a vehicle repair centre.
At the time it was recovered, several parts, including the spare wheel, had already been removed and sold, according to reports.
The theft is alleged to have been carried out by a suspect known as Suresh, also called “Ranale Choppe,” who had previously worked at the same vehicle yard about four years ago.
It is also reported that he was dismissed from his job due to severe drug addiction.
The suspect has since fled the area, and Mulleriyawa Police are conducting further investigations to arrest him.
