Police stations in Pamunugama and Mawathagama have launched extensive investigations into two separate deaths reported from different parts of the country.
An unidentified body that washed ashore at Uswetakeiyawa beach and a suspicious body found inside a well on a private property in Mawathagama were discovered by police yesterday (13).
Police said they received information that an unidentified body had washed ashore along the Uswetakeiyawa beach area under the Pamunugama Police Division, after which officers launched an investigation.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.
The victim is believed to be a male aged between 40 and 45 years, approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall.
Meanwhile, Mawathagama Police reported that a body was found inside an unused well on private land in the Paragahadeniya area of Mawathagama.
Preliminary investigations have identified the deceased as a 38-year-old, police said.
