The dengue virus currently spreading in the country shows a somewhat different nature than previous instances, Deputy Health Minister Hansaka Wijemuni said.
The deputy minister pointed out that due to this different nature of the virus, a strong trend exists for a larger number of people to contract dengue disease than usual.
The risk of the disease spreading increased due to this change in the virus, and the deputy minister emphasised that the public must remain highly vigilant regarding it.
Furthermore, he pointed out the importance of following necessary protective steps to stay safe from the prevailing situation.
The deputy health minister further noted that focusing on measures and required health steps to protect against the virus remains an essential factor to control this risky situation.
