Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha former chairman named suspect in new corruption case

The former chairman of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha, Daya Pushpa Kumara Hewa Bettage, currently in remand custody over a corruption allegation, will be named as a suspect in another incident for causing a loss to the local council by constructing a volleyball court costing 2.9 million rupees on a land that the Pradeshiya Sabha did not establish ownership rights to. The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today on the 16th, and the Magistrate ordered to remand the suspect until the 30th regarding this incident as well.
