Driver arrested for aiding suspect in physiotherapist murder case

A driver attached to the Kundasale Pradeshiya Sabha has been arrested for aiding and abetting the prime suspect in the murder of a female physiotherapist in Theldeniya.

The accomplice, a resident of Pallekele, was taken into custody following the high-profile arrest of the victim's boyfriend and his wife in Jaffna this morning (24).

The key suspect and his wife were apprehended during a joint operation conducted by the Walana Anti-Corruption Unit and the Jaffna District Crime Investigation Bureau.

Acting on intelligence that the couple was fleeing from Wellawatte to Jaffna in disguise aboard a luxury bus, police officers tracked the vehicle's GPS signals and intercepted them upon arrival in Jaffna.

A senior officer from the Nuwara Eliya Police stated that the Jaffna division was alerted immediately after receiving the information.

The arrested couple is being transferred to the Nuwara Eliya Police, where they will be produced before the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate's Court to obtain detention orders for further investigation.
