Welikada Police today (6) informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court that an investigation is underway into an alleged fraud in which a suspect, claiming to be a police officer, obtained Rs.386,000 from a man and is accused of criminal breach of trust.
The court was informed of the matter following submissions made by Welikada Police in relation to the case.
The investigation was initiated based on a complaint lodged by a resident of Rajagiriya.
Presenting further facts before the court, Welikada Police stated that the suspect had falsely represented himself as a police officer in order to fraudulently obtain the money.
