The All Ceylon Jewellery Merchants Association announced that the price of gold in the local market registered an increase today (10).
A sovereign of 24-karat gold sold for 378,000 rupees following a 2,000-rupee price increase from yesterday's rate of 376,000 rupees.
Under the current market rates, a sovereign of 22-karat gold now retails at 347,800 rupees.
24-karat gold stands at 47,250 rupees per gram while a single gram of 22-karat gold costs 43,475 rupees.
