Hatton Dik Oya overflows: Several houses submerged

Several houses on both sides of the canal were submerged under water today (03) as the Dik Oya, which flows from Hatton into the Castlereigh Reservoir, overflowed.

Local residents stated that a similar disaster occurred in 2013 due to the overflowing of the Dik Oya, and their houses were submerged once again because the Dik Oya canal overflowed.

Meanwhile, a tourist hotel in the Nawalapitiya area was submerged under water due to the overflowing of the Mahaweli River, according to our correspondent.
