Based on two complaints filed Ambalantota Police have initiated investigations on a father and a grandfather for indecent acts harming the 10-year-old daughter.
Investigations into these two complaints commenced based on statements made by the girl who arrived at the Ambalantota Police with her grandmother, Ambalantota Police said.
The first complaint alleges that the girl's grandfather inappropriately behaved with her on several occasions, the police said.
The girl's statement noted that she was frightened by threats to end her life if she revealed the incidents to anyone.
The second complaint alleges that the girl's father also indecently behaved with her on numerous occasions.
The girl mentioned in the police complaint that she was threatened not to tell anyone about those incidents.
The girl went to the Galle area for a school sports activity on August 9 and subsequently visited her grandmother's house in Mirissa, where she informed her grandmother and a relative about the incidents.
They later brought the girl to the police, and investigations commenced after recording her statements.
Police also state that the girl was admitted to the Hambantota General Hospital for forensic medical examinations.
Although a police team went to the house of the accused grandfather to arrest him, he was not present at the time.
Police also conducted investigations to arrest the girl's father, but he could not be arrested at the time as he went for employment at sea.
Ambalantota Police are conducting separate investigations into the incidents and have initiated search operations to arrest both suspects.
