The heat felt on the human body could reach "caution" levels during daytime tomorrow (20) in certain locations across the Eastern and North-Central provinces, as well as the Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, and Monaragala districts.
This is according to the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre of the Department of Meteorology.
The heat index was calculated using atmospheric humidity and maximum temperature values obtained through the analysis of global mathematical weather prediction models, the announcement noted. The department clarified that this reflects the temperature felt on the human body rather than the maximum actual atmospheric temperature.
This warning remains valid for the Eastern and North-Central provinces, along with the Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, and Monaragala districts.
