The Joint Opposition defeated the government to achieve a remarkable victory in the Doramadalawa regional cooperative election of the Mihintale, Rambewa Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society.
During the election held yesterday (22) at Mahakanadarawa Yaya 02 School, the Joint Opposition defeated the governing party by four to one.
Expressing views to the media regarding this victory, the winning candidates stated that the Compass had threatened the village people that roads would not be constructed if they failed to vote for them.
They pointed out that despite such threats, the true opinion of the ground-level people was displayed through this cooperative regional vote result.
"What we have to say to this government is that the opinion currently at the ground level is shown through this regional branch today. The government fell to a state where it cannot win even a cooperative regional branch," the winning candidates added further, expressing their views.
