490 persons were arrested on suspicion after inspecting 26,868 individuals during crime and drug prevention operations carried out by the Sri Lanka Police yesterday (25), the Police Media Division stated.
The Sri Lanka Police stated that the special crime and drug prevention operation was carried out at division level covering all regional police stations, the Police Media Division mentioned.
During the special operations carried out on these days, 4,036 persons were arrested for traffic and other offences, police say.
Furthermore, 92 suspects for reckless driving and 37 drunk drivers were arrested from investigations carried out island-wide, the Police Media Division mentioned.
24 persons directly identified as being involved in crimes island-wide and 228 open warrant holders were also arrested during this special operation, the Police Media Division mentioned.
Further stating facts, the Police Media Division mentioned that through crime and drug prevention operations currently being carried out island-wide by the Sri Lanka Police on the instructions of the Inspector General of Police, it was possible to arrest suspects involved in crimes island-wide.
